On behalf of the Organising Committee, we feel privileged and honoured to welcome you to the Annual Conference of International Medical Sciences Academy from 3rd to 5th November 2006 at Lahore Medical and Dental College, Lahore Pakistan. It will be a unique occasion to share ideas, perceptions and experiences among medical scientists and eminent clinicians.

Considering the rapid pace at which information is accumulating in the medical sciences and new technologies are being adopted in our profession, conferences such as this are of paramount importance to keep us updated. The scientific programme has been structured based on your suggestions and aspirations. We invite you to participate in the global interaction with national and international medical scientists of eminence for a rewarding exchange of scientific thoughts and current knowledge.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Update in Medical and Dental Sciences’

Lahore is the capital and heart of Punjab and heart of Pakistan too and has an approximate population of 80 lakhs. Lahore has a rich historical background. The city was named after LO the older son of Pando.

It is situated on the bank of river Ravi, which is among the main five rivers of Punjab.

The city is a composite of old and new buildings representing both the older and new civilization. The walled city is a reminder of the legacy of mughal and pre-mughal era.

The stamp of Mughal architecture is seen by Badshahi Mosque, the Lahore Fort, Shalimar Gardens, the tomb of Noor Jehan, Asif Jah and Jahangir.

The city has been named ‘City of Colleges’ and can now rightly be called ‘City of Parks’.

The International Medical Sciences Academy was established as a global organization in 1981 at New Delhi. It is registered society with regions in America, Australia, India, Rest of Asia, Africa and Europe. The Dr. K. Jagadeesan, the renowned transplant surgeon and recipient of the B.C. Roy Award, is the President.

IMSA is an Associate Member of the Council of International Organization of Medical Sciences (CIOMS), WHO, Geneva. It has over 2000 members and has chapters in most of the states in India.

JIMSA, the journal of the Medical Sciences Academy, is published quarterly and sent to all members and fellows of the Academy.

IMSA conferences are conducted in India and abroad every year alternately. Last years’ Conference was organized in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. This year conference will be hosted by the Pakistan Chapter in Lahore.

Since November is a peak tourist season, early hotel reservations are advisable to ensure accommodation. Request for accommodation should reach the conference secretariat on or before 31st July 2006. Every attempt will be made to accommodate the delegate in the category as per request.

Tariff rates are approximate and are subject to revision. The Hotel reserves the right to revise the tariffs and taxes and the secretariat would not be in a position to intervene. The delegates are requested to send requisition for booking their choice of hotel with advance room rent for one day of their stay to the conference secretariat by way a DD in favour of ‘IMSACON-2006’ payable at Lahore.

Transport will be available in pick up from hotel to venue and back


Cancellations

Request for cancellation of accommodation must reach the Conference Secretariat latest by 31st August 2006.

Cancellation request received after 31st August 2006 will not be entertained.

Two delegates can share a double room and split the charges. Please specify ‘Twin Sharing Basis for this in your registration form.


Visa

Visa is required for Pakistan and must be obtained before travel. Please allow 3 Months before Conference Date for application to be processed.

* PG Students registering for the main conference will have to register as a delegate

• PG Students must furnish documentary evidence (certificate from the Head of the Department of Institution) along with the registration form.

* Foreign delegates Conference Registration Fee includes fees for CME programme also.

Abstract Submission

The Scientific Committee invites Abstracts for Poster and Oral Presentations. The abstract must be in approximately 300 words in English. Only original work having relevance to Clinical practice may be submitted. The paper must clearly state the objective, methods, results and conclusions. The presentation must have a title, names of all authors and the institution where the work was done. Please mention the name of the author who will present the paper and complete address, email and phone numbers.

Last date for submission of abstract: 30 June 2006 . Kindly send on diskette or CD by mail or email to the Conference Secretariat.
